Hi everyone! Wow, so much has happened since we last wrote! This season has been very emotional for us so far. We were really hoping to do well at our Junior Grand Prix assignments since this is our last year of Junior eligibility. Unfortunately, I pulled my groin muscle at an official German ice dance camp in Oberstdorf in August. I experienced bad pain for the next two weeks during training. After going through weeks of physical therapy and not training more than 1-2 days a week, we got back on the ice 3 days before our departure for our first JGP in Tallinn. While we were in the middle of a freedance run-through on a crowded session, however, a freestyle skater collided into me with a lot of speed and high impact. His blade cut my thigh and his boot and heel crashed onto my leg with a lot of force. I couldn't walk for the rest of the day, and the next day I could only limp, as long as I did not bend my leg. Benji was a great partner though, and helped me recover faster by doing some exercises with my leg to help get the blood flowing again. The day before we flew, we got back on the ice to see if I could get through a freedance run-through. When I did (with much suffering), our coach decided that we would compete. At the competition, we skated clean for the most part, but very slowly and without our usual presentation or stamina. We were really excited to show better prepared programs in Chemnitz, and trained hard in the time between the two events. We started off well in the compulsory dance, but we had many unfortunate mistakes in the OD. The freedance got off to a bad start as well, where my blade got caught in the ice and I fell, a little before the entry to our first lift. Not wanting to lost the points from the lift, we started the entrance over again and lost a lot of time doing so. That lift ended up being an "illegal element" and the lift did not count! (PAGE 2)
